The Galdralopp, by Icelandic fly tying legend Jón Aðalsteinn Þorgeirsson, is simply a fantastic dry fly. It inspired the Bibio Hopper that hatch in great numbers up north in Iceland. Actually, Jón Aðalsteinn, was fishing the great Laxa in Thingeyjarsysla, North Iceland, when he came up with this pattern.
This fly floats really well and can be completely irresistible to rising brown trout and arctic char. It’s most commonly tied on a size 12 classic dry fly hook, but you can go up or down a size to fit your homwaters.
