The Alma Run nymph was originally designed by Sigursteinn Hubertsson (1932-2013). He named fly is named after his granddaughter, Alma Run. Sigursteinn often told the story of how Alma Rún talked to the fish as she knocked them with a priest while fishing with her grandfather, and told them that it was all right, as Alma Run herself mentions in her memoir about her grandfather. The fly was first designed at lake Hlidarvatn in Selvogur in south Iceland, where Sigursteinn often fished.
This fly has throught the year been very effective there as well as anywhere where Arctic Char is the target.
